Mother Earth & You | Health

Living in Arizona, we are pretty fortunate.

We live in a state that has one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World: the Grand Canyon.

The rest of our state is pretty magnificent as well. Our state is diverse with the Saguaro cactus, chaparral, juniper and cedars, with the vegetation change to pine and aspen trees as the elevation increases.

Mother Earth…Gaia… our planet gives so much to us. From the gas that we put into our cars to get us to a Diamondbacks game, to the hot dog and Cracker Jacks eaten there while wearing an old D-Backs baseball hat made from cotton, Mother Earth gives to us. The blooms of vibrant orange, purple and pink wildflowers that grace our Sonoran desert and highways, tell us that this desert is Alive!

Mother Earth is Alive. Her lungs are the trees, and her nervous system is lightning The rivers and oceans are her blood The boulders are her bones; the birds her music She is noisy She is silent She gives of herself to us, Over and over and over.

Mother Earth needs our care, but does she need our saving? Can she save herself just fine without our mingling? Of course, cleaning up the oceans of the plastics and debris can only help the planet. Being as frugal as possible with electricity, clothes buying, and consuming ‘things’ can only help this planet. If each one of us makes less waste for Mother Earth to have to deal with, then good for us and good for her.

But, to put it in perspective, for the short time of about 200,000 years, humans have been on this planet. Compare that to the 4.5 billions of years the Earth has been alive. Humans have had a mere slight interaction with this planet compared to all that it has endured before we got here.

In the words of comedian and social critic, George Carlin (1937-2008),

“We’re so self-important. Everybody’s going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save those snails. And the greatest arrogance of all: save the planet. Save the planet? We don’t even know how to take care of ourselves yet. The Planet will shake us off like a bad case of fleas. A surface nuisance. The planet will be here for a long, long, long time after we’re gone. And it will heal itself, it will cleanse itself because that’s what it does. It’s a self-correcting system. The Earth will be renewed.” George Carlin (1937-2008)

Since we are from the Earth, then we can be healed and renewed. The Earth and what she gives can heal. The hemp plant which contains large amounts of CBD can heal. Recently, a mother told me her experience with CBD. She has a 4 year old son with muscular dystrophy and autism. She gave him CBD drops once a day for one month. She noticed that he was not complaining of leg and foot pain like he did in the past. He was not screaming or having tantrums and he was beginning to say more words. She said that she heard of CBD from another mom who had a child with similar health issues. So, she decided to give it a try to see if it could help heal her son. Because that is what mother’s do. Mother’s heal and renew.

My mother, the strongest, most patient and wise woman that I know, had a saying growing up:

THE LIFE YOU SAVE MAY BE YOUR OWN My mother

We are all responsible for saving ourselves.

Mother Earth… she will save herself, too.
