The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the story which stars the beautiful princess by the name of Zelda, and the chosen one Link. It is also supported by a vast array of characters, including the main villain Ganondorf, summoned from the evil realm. Surrounded by dungeons, volcanoes, and mountains in the kingdom of Hyrule, it provides a beautiful, breathtaking setting. Even though there is no voice acting and some may find the fact that the game involves tons of reading boring, it is still considered one of the greatest video games of all time. Story and gameplay are some of the best ever, with its rich history and legacy the Legend of Zelda keeps setting standards in gaming.
A young boy by the name of Link from the Kokori forest must reverse destiny and protect the Kingdom of Hyrule and the Triforce. Ocarina of Time, the musical instrument that is handed to Link, lets him travel back and forth through time to bring things back to normal in present times. Link sets out to obtain 7 sages, the first three are used to open the Door of Time to the Sacred Realm, where the Master Sword has been hidden for many years, and the Triforce lies within. All are needed to defeat the evil Ganondorf and restore peace in the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Hidden within the sacred realm lies the Triforce, a sacred relic made of three pieces left behind by the three Golden Goddesses: the Goddess of Power, the Goddess of Wisdom, and the Goddess of Courage. Whoever holds the Triforce has the power to be granted a wish within his heart, whether good or bad, the Triforce does not discriminate. Seven Sages must be found to bring peace back to Hyrule. Led by Princes Zelda, the ancient sages are used to lock away the evil Ganondorf and to obtain the Master Sword, the weapon needed to defeat Ganondorf.
The boy of destiny, young Link lost his mother as an infant and was left to the Great Deku tree guardian of the Kokori to be raised by the Kokori people. Every Kokori has a fairy companion. Link did not, and was often teased and picked on. As a young boy, Link had a prophecy dream of the events that will occur involving Ganondorf and Princess Zelda. Ganondorf puts a curse on the Great Deku Tree for not handing over the spiritual stone of the forest. Navi is the fairy sent to Link to become his companion fairy. Navi takes Link to the Great Deku Tree where he explains about the curse set on him and tells him to break it. Link defeats the evil monster Gohma sent by Ganondorf, thus breaking the curse. With his last breaths, the Great Deku Tree tells young Link the origins of Hyrule and the Triforce and also briefs him on Ganondorf and his evil beginnings. Link is sent out to Hyrule to speak to Princes Zelda, where she shares her prophecy dreams with Link. Before leaving Hyrule, Link is given the Ocarina of Time. Link travels back and forth in time to obtain the Sages and the Triforce which then unlocks the Master Sword. Battling through many dungeons, puzzles, and bosses he reaches the ultimate battle. Ganondorf is eventually defeated by Link, and peace brought back to the kingdom. (assuming you are successful)
As a child, princess Zelda heir to the royal family of Hyrule, possessed mystical powers. She could sense the evil in the king’s new servant, Ganondorf. Zelda would have prophetic dreams of Ganondorf’s evil plans. She tried warning her father, the king of Hyrule, to no avail. When Ganondorf tries to kidnap Zelda, Impa saves her and helps her escape. Over time, Impa mentors Zelda and teaches her the magical ways. With her new found magical ability, Zelda was able to change her appearance and create a male alter ego by the name of Sheik. Princes Zelda can foresee Link as the chosen one and she warns him of Ganondorf’s evil plan to take over Hyrule. Throughout the adventure, Zelda helps Link as her alter-ego Sheik. When Zelda removes her disguise she is revealed to be the final sage to finally lock all evil away.
To this day, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is considered one of the best, if not the best video game of all time. With its 99% Metacritic.com rating it still the highest rated game on the website. Ocarina of time was originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998 and was later re-released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012. With over 50 hours of gameplay, plenty of dungeons to complete, tons of people to interact with, beautiful landscapes, and one of the greatest stories ever told, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is a masterpiece that has stood the test of time.
