THC Simple Syrup | Cannabis Cocktail

One of the mainstays of the cocktail and mixology world is the simple syrup. There are just so many different ways to change up subtle flavors inherent in a mixed drink. The simple syrup is one of the easiest to produce well. I like to use complex tasting sugar, like Demerara in my simple syrup. There is a certain funk in this sugar which can be substituted by brown sugar, but in my opinion, brown sugar cannot compete in a drink. Brown sugar tends to be too assertive in a craft cocktail, too bitter in my opinion. If you want a dark simple syrup, just simmer the sugar and water together for a longer period of time. It will take on a darker color, as if by osmosis!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup filtered water

  2. 1 cup Demerara sugar

  3. 4-6 grams decarbed cannabis of the finest kind (finely ground)

  4. 1 Tablespoon vegetarian lecithin (brain food, supercharges your absorption of the THC

Process:

  1. Simmer all the ingredients at 160 degrees F. for at least thirty minutes to infuse and activate your simple syrup.

  2. Let cool and store in the refrigerator for a week at most.

***You can add a knob of a ginger root when you’re simmering the syrup to make a spicy ginger syrup. It’s easy and you can make bourbon or mezcal mule cocktails that will get you and all your friends really stoned.
