New Cannabis Legislation in California Aims to Help Achieve Full Legalization

The state's cannabis regulations have been strengthened thanks to a number of new bills that Governor Gavin Newsom said he had signed on Sunday. The regulations are intended to support California's legal marijuana market, safeguard workers who use marijuana outside of the office, expunge prior marijuana-related convictions, and increase access to medical marijuana.

The promise of cannabis legalization "remains out of grasp for too many Californians," according to Newsom. "These policies build on the significant progress our state has made in this direction, but there is still much to be done to create a fair, secure, and long-lasting legal cannabis market. I'm excited to work with the lawmakers and decision-makers to fully implement cannabis legalization in all of the towns in California."
