BLAZY SUSAN TEAMS UP WITH MINT CANNABIS TO FUND 700 MEALS FOR VALLEY CANCER PATIENTS
Companies make a collective $10,000 donation to Phoenix-based nonprofit, The Joy Bus Diner
TEMPE, Ariz. (April 3, 2024) –The Joy Bus's efforts to bring meals and caring conversations to cancer patients across the Valley received a significant infusion this week, thanks to a $10,000 donation from Mint Cannabis and Blazy Susan. Mint Cannabis CEO Eivan Shahara and COO Raul Molina joined Blazy Susan CEO Will Breakell and Joy Bus Founder Jennifer Caraway for the check presentation this week.
“We’re so grateful for the support of the community as we work to increase the number of cancer patients we can support with freshly prepared meals and friendly encouragement,” said Caraway. “Without the help from the community and companies like Mint Cannabis and Blazy Susan, we couldn’t do what we do. Their generous donation will help us to serve 700 meals to Valley cancer patients in the next month.”
The $10,000 donation is the result of a collaborative effort between Arizona-based Mint Cannabis and Blazy Susan, Blazy Susan, a Colorado-based, community-minded accessories brand known for its give-back initiatives. For each pre-roll joint sold at the Mint’s dispensary metro Phoenix locations in January, Blazy Susan contributed $1 and the Mint matched the donation, resulting in the total contribution to The Joy Bus.
The Joy Bus collects and cooks donated food for its volunteers to then deliver to cancer patients across the Valley. The nonprofit’s mission is furthered by partnerships throughout the local community, including partners committed to serving area cancer patients, such as Mint Cannabis.
“The cancer community is especially dear to us, which is why it’s such an honor to help provide relief to cancer patients who are courageously fighting this disease,” said Shahara. “We want them to know that they are not alone.”
The check presentation this week is only the beginning for Mint Cannabis and Blazy Susan; the organizations share a commitment to community outreach and giving back to cancer patients in need. The brands are planning to explore future collaborations to benefit The Joy Bus on a quarterly basis.
“Teaming up with the Mint aligns with our desire to be a positive example of what can be done when two likeminded companies working in an often-misunderstood industry come together to do good things for the community,” said Breakell, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor. “This donation is an authentic reflection of our Blazy Susan brand, which stands for equality and empowerment, the very qualities The Joy Bus brings to cancer patients in their time of need.”
The Blazy Susan partnership is the latest example of the Mint’s ongoing investment in giving back to the community. Mint Charities has provided more than $3 million in monetary and product donations to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations and has dedicated countless hours to helping the underserved and patients in need. This includes Veterans; individuals battling debilitating diseases like cancer; people experiencing homelessness; and individuals facing at-risk circumstances.

Charitable giving is part of Blazy Susan's DNA. Providing means for furthering research and providing support to those who need it most has always been a core tenet of the brand.
