The southwest is known for its Mexican food and spice, but with that also comes Hot Dogs, or otherwise known as, Sonoran Dogs. Arizona has seen so many styles and versions of the Sonoran Hot Dog. But one man, who has already done so much for this city, has now decided to take the Sonoran Dog to the next level.
Luciano, formally known as the King Of Downtown and founder of the brand Who Hurt You, is now a restaurant owner. He opened his new spot in downtown Phoenix, calling it Loaded Wiener.
Loaded Wiener is located on 21 W. Van Buren Street, right here in Phoenix, AZ. He’s open Monday thru Thursday from 10am to 8pm, Friday from 10am to 2pm & Friday and Saturday night from 8pm to 3am. Closed on Sundays.
As a nightclub promoter, Luciano has been in the nightlife scene for over 10 years. He has not only been in Arizona but has been a part of a number of big celebrity events all over the United States. Now he has his sights set on restaurant life.
Why did you decide to open up a hot dog joint?
I decided to do a hot dog place because of my lifestyle of always being on the go. At Loaded Wiener we can make a hot dog in under 5 min. As well as being in the nightclub business for over 10 years, I learned that after the club, everyone wants to go eat tacos or hot dogs. So it made the most sense to me and is why we are open late on Fridays and Saturdays.
What is your favorite idea on your menu and why?
My personal favorite is the Salchipapas, cause it’s just something I grew up eating.
Loaded Wiener doesn’t just serve a different style of hot dog, they also have a number of other great food ideas like Loaded Fries, Elote, and Luciano's favorite, the Salchipapas - crinkle cut french fries topped with nacho cheese, sliced hot dogs, jalapeños, and avocado sauce.
In your opinion what makes Loaded Wiener stand out from other hot dog spots in the metro Phoenix area?
I think the big difference is that we use all fresh toppings and ingredients. For example, our hot dog toppings are all freshly prepared by us and our bread comes from a local bakery, made fresh every day!
With a number of celebrity friends supporting Loaded Wiener, local businesses and the community have rallied around Luciano. He has now opened up a Loaded Wiener bus and is also looking to open a second location.
