Concentrated Comedy
Frank Castillo, Anwar Newton, Mark Stevens, and Brian Kearley performed in the Concentrated Comedy Show presented by Trap Culture AZ.
I am sure most people were busy this Valentine’s Day doing what lovers do. Wining and dining, sharing gifts, spending a romantic time together or maybe doing dabs? Well if you went to Concentrated Comedy at The Croft Downtown this past Valentine’s Day there were definitely a whole lot of dabs. I mean, after all, what do you expect from an event with concentrate in its name? Trap Culture did an amazing job putting this event together with over forty vendors, there was definitely plenty to do. For some, it was work. For patients, it was play. But all in all, I’m pretty positive everyone had fun.

It was a very nice set up with plenty of elbow room, separated in sections, it was not overwhelming at all. Upon entry on the east side of the building, you walked into a 47’ x 88’ rectangular area called ‘The Green’ with artificial turf and string lights hanging overhead. This was the concentrate area, I’m sure this was mainly due to the artificial turf and wanting to keep it free of ash and possibly burns, probably also bud. Ever dropped weed on the carpet? Yea, not a fun clean up. With it being a larger rectangular area and the vendors setup along the walls, there was plenty of room to stand around, chat or step away from the dabs and take a breather if necessary.
After spending some time in the concentrate area, I walked west through a short hall into the 2,500 ft2 courtyard where there were a few more dabs, but this was the designated smoking area. This was the area to walk up, grab a table and roll up, pack a dab into the Puffco or glob into your rig if you brought your own. If you didn’t, there were still about 8 vendors in the courtyard packing bongs and giving dabs. Now, I’m sure after walking through these two rooms and taking so many dabs and so many bong rips you might be thinking one must have the munchies right? Well, yes… you would be absolutely right, cuz I definitely had an appetite.

In the courtyard, there was a door to the south that led to the ‘Cheshire Room’ which was the largest room at the venue. Just over 5,100 ft2 and where the comedy show was going to take place, but the comedy show did not start until 8:30pm and all those dabs and rips definitely had given me the munchies. So I took the door to the west, this led to the 3,600 sq ft2 ‘Abbey Room’ where Sofa Kings Edibles and Sublime were giving out samples. But there were so many other good vendors selling non-medicated foods to fulfill all your munchies needs from bbq to tacos and so much more. There were a lot of options to choose from. After bouncing between Sublime and Sofa Kings for a while, all I really had room for was nachos, so I grabbed some, loaded up with cheese and jalapeños, and went to find a seat for the show.
The main event was held in the ‘Cheshire Room.’ It was nice, with rows of very comfortable folding chairs setup in front of a nice sized stage that had a large WTF Extracts banner above it. A very comfortable room that was perfect for everyone to gather, enjoy the show, and not be crowded stuck shoulder to shoulder. The space between the seats and the dimmer lighting was a perfect setup. I can imagine being the host of a comedy show can get pretty stressful, but Brian Kearley did a great job. The headliner Frank Castillo along with all the other comedians made sure it was non stop laughs the whole show.

It was a fun event with quality concentrates, good bud, amazing food and lots of laughter. The team over at Trap Culture Promotions definitely know how to show the patients a good time. It was nice to get out and enjoy some laughs with the community and to try new products as well. From hitting a bunch of vendors, there are definitely some products that stuck out to me. After trying Glorious Extracts, I recommend just about all their strains, but I have to say the one that stood out most was their Slymer, very sweet and very terpy. Of course, the team over at WTF Extracts is killing it with their solventless line. Their Strawberry OG Pancakes & Syrup are a tasty treat. If you are interested in trying some CRC products, give Boosted Extracts a try, they seem to be keeping all their terpenes while still using color remediation.
All in all, it was a great time. Thank you to Trap Culture for throwing this event and bringing the community together. The laughs, the meds, the vibes were all amazing. Be on the lookout for the next event in May, the AZ Hash Bash. You never know what Trap culture has in store for the patients, but it definitely sounds amazing. Give them a follow on Instagram @trapcultureaz to stay up to date with all of their upcoming events.
