Cannabis Cactus X Suns NBA Event Raises over $4.5k for Charity

Phoenix, AZ - Cannabis Cactus and Suns NBA event organizers are proud to announce the final donation amount raised through ticket sales for their recent tournament. The event, which was held on January 6th, 2023, brought the top cannabis companies from around the country together, and was the first time that the NBA has ever agreed to work with cannabis brands. Celebrity coaches Marshawn Lynch, Paul Pierce, Gary Payton, Derek Fisher, Brice Butler, and Anthony Dorsett all volunteered their time and efforts to be a part of this epic event. An amazing day was had by teams, brands, and spectators alike. 13 different teams competed, with Jeeter ultimately taking 1st place, Abundant Organics taking 2nd, and Trulieve taking 3rd.

The event incurred a financial loss that was covered by Cannabis Cactus. However, they remain committed to fulfilling their promise of donating the ticket proceeds to charity. The final donation amount raised from ticket sales is $4,582.50, and was divided between two worthy causes.

Last Prisoner Project

The Last Prisoner Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those impacted by the drug war and promoting criminal justice reform, received a donation of $2,500. “Last Prisoner Project is so incredibly grateful for the generous support from Cannabis Cactus, and we look forward to continuing to work together in creative ways to advocate for the release of all cannabis prisoners,” said Mary Bailey, Managing Director of Last Prisoner Project. As an added bonus, Dutchie is matching our donation to Last Prisoner Project with an additional $2500. Thank you Dutchie!

The Joy Bus Diner

The Joy Bus Diner, an organization that provides healthy meals and support to cancer patients in the valley, will receive a donation of $2,082.50. Says Joanna McCarthy, General Manager of The Joy Bus Diner, “We are 100% non-profit, and our mission is to help ease the daily struggles for people that are homebound with cancer. We do that by providing fresh chef-inspired meals that change each week, and our volunteers deliver them.” They currently make around 600 meals for home visits every month. These funds will go towards their current fundraising campaign that will assist them in securing a larger facility next year, in which they will be able to make 2500 meals per month.

Cannabis Cactus would like to express their gratitude to all of the partners and attendees who helped make the event a success. They look forward to hosting more events like this in the future, and are honored to support these two incredible organizations.

"We are proud to donate to these two important causes, and look forward to working with the NBA and NFL on more events in the near future," said Michael Cassini, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Cannabis Cactus. "We also want to thank everyone for their patience as we finalized vendor accounts and waited for payments to clear."
